Transferring to ISS - June Update

A note from Andrew Buckley, Key Account Portfolio Director, ISS

We are now at ‘T16’. Whilst that might sound like an airport lounge, for those that don’t know, it’s actually a Project Management reference countdown to the start of the new contract meaning 16 weeks to go. Time is flying but we’re making good progress.

Open, Safe and Compliant on 1st October

So the ISS team is really busy defining how exactly we will operate on 1st October. Our aim is to be ‘open, safe and compliant’ – for everyone to transfer to ISS seamlessly and continue performing their roles as you normally would. We will communicate contact details nearer the time so that everyone can escalate urgent issues we need to deal with.

Essential Training Requirements before 1st October

We’re also organising essential training sessions that will be required before 1st October – for those that will need to do something different on 1st October. Specific job training such as helpdesk, engineers and catering. Those sessions will hopefully be confirmed with your current employer soon. We’re also hoping to host sessions with transferring Managers to provide an overview of the ‘need to know’ material for Day 1 of the new contract. More information coming soon.

121 Meetings in July

Meanwhile, organisation for 121s starting in July is ongoing. We have engaged a pool of ISS individuals to help us undertake the 121 meetings which will consist of 2300 sessions spread across the UK – it will be a busy time! Don’t forget to bring your Bank Account details and Proof of Identity Documents so that we can carry out the Right to Work checks and pay you once you transfer to ISS – see exactly what to bring here.

In Other News

I thought I’d share a few good news stories this month to give you an insight into ISS activity:

  • After the ISS Global Leadership Conference took place in Oslo last week, ISS UK & Ireland was celebrating after our UK&I representative Michelle Quinn won the  ‘Global Apple Award winner of the year’. Michelle who works in a hospice in Dublin, was there to collect her prize which included £2500 towards a holiday of her choice. The Apple award recognises the exceptional work of customer-facing Placemakers in making a difference for our customers. ISS UK & Ireland was also successful for the ‘ISS People Award’ for the impact of our ‘2024 Year of the Supervisors’ campaign which looked to connect and engage with Supervisors across the UK business, put them at the heart of their business by listening and supporting them in their roles and leadership career paths.

  • We’ve also just achieved ‘Level 2 Employer’ status under the UK Government's Disability Confident Scheme which is a great step showing our commitment to inclusivity and support for people with disabilities.

About You

The TUPE process and rules of engagement means that communication with transferring colleagues is restricted to agreed channels (this website, formal consultation and 121s from July to September) until we start the new contract on 1st October and you transfer to ISS.

From that point, we will be able to meet the team properly and work together on the future partnership with DWP.

We hope you are feeling quietly positive about the move to ISS. I know it’s difficult dealing with the unknown but you should feel assured that ISS is a great organisation to work for and we are planning on delivering a great contract for DWP.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adhere to the TUPE process.

We look forward to getting to know you from 1st October.

Andrew and the ISS team

We will be adding helpful information including monthly updates on this website so please keep popping back over the coming months
